If your relationship with food or your body feels overwhelming, confusing, or distressing, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself.

Disordered eating can affect people of all ages, body types, genders, and backgrounds. It can be seen as constant food-related thoughts, strict rules around eating, cycles of restriction and bingeing, or shame around body image.

Whatever your experience looks like, therapy offers a safe space to understand what’s going on underneath and begin the process of healing.

How Counselling Can Help

In our work together, we’ll gently explore your relationship with food, body image, and self-worth. We’ll identify the emotional and psychological patterns that may be keeping you stuck and begin to work on shifting them at a pace that feels right for you.

You may want to explore:

  • Feeling controlled around food, or feeling out of control
  • Emotional eating or not eating as a coping mechanism
  • Anxiety or guilt after eating
  • Dieting history or fear of weight gain
  • Low self-esteem or perfectionism
  • Fear of judgement or pressure to "get it right"
  • Body dissatisfaction, shame, or disconnection

You don’t need a diagnosis to seek help. If food and body image are taking up too much space in your life, counselling can support you in finding more peace.

What to Expect in Therapy

I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can speak openly and feel heard. We’ll explore what's going on for you in order to:

  • Understand the deeper reasons behind your eating behaviours
  • Create a more balanced relationship with food
  • Develop practical tools to manage difficult thoughts or urges
  • Build emotional resilience and self-compassion
  • Reconnect with your body and your needs

My Approach

I draw from a person-centred foundation, meaning I meet you where you are. I also use other therapeutic models and psychoeducation to support you in understanding and changing unhelpful patterns.

If relevant to you, we might also explore the impact of family, cultural and religious attitudes that have shaped how you see food and your body.

Every person’s story is unique, and your therapy will be tailored to reflect your individual experiences and goals.

Ready to Take the First Step?

If you're feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns or simply want to feel more at ease in your body, support is available.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can talk about what you're looking for and how I can help. Sessions are available in person in Manchester and online across the UK and internationally.
